Customer Service for Ontarians with Disabilities
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) seeks to remove barriers and achieve accessibility for persons with disabilities in a number of key areas.
Accessibility Standards for Customer Service is the first standard to come into effect. All businesses providing goods and services with at least one employee will have to comply with the new standard by January�1,�2012.
If your organization has 20 or more employees, the policies and procedures must be documented and must be available to any person upon request.
Do you have a policy to address providing service to a person using a guide dog or other service animal?
If you provide services to disabled persons, do you have a procedure to provide notice of disruptions to those services?
Have you trained your staff on providing service to persons with disabilities?
